There is a parking lot off of River Road near the TN Play Experience playground. The distance to the planting site is just a short distance away. Staff will meet volunteers at the parking lot on the day of and walk over with the volunteers. There will be TD Tree Days directional signage on site to help guide volunteers, please also the map coordinates by expanding the map on the registration page.

TD Tree Days events are hosted by municipalities and/or local non-profit organizations specializing in environmental stewardship. They provide the planting expertise, trees and shrubs, and prepare the site for the planting event. TD is thrilled to continue to work alongside these local teams to make these tree planting events a collaborative success every yerar.

When you arrive on site, check-in with your Site Leader(s) and/or Co-Site Leader(s) and receive your gardening gloves. Each event will begin with a welcome from the Site Leader and a planting demonstration. Event duration times vary from approximately 1.5 - 3.5 hours, and volunteers should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to check-in.

Volunteers need to be prepared for physical activity including digging, lifting, and planting, and may be asked to do other planting activities such as mulching, securing mulch mats, placing tree guards, invasive species removal, and watering, as well as site clean-up. You will have access to drinking water at the event, and we recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to reduce waste.

Reminder: Revisit this page the morning of your event for any important updates.

  3. Sunscreen & insect repellent: Consider bringing sunscreen and/or insect repellent to the event.
  4. Gardening gloves: Gardening gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
  5. Reusable water bottle: Stay hydrated! There will be water on site; however, please consider bringing your own refillable water bottle.

Be prepared for wasps and ticks

We're planting in natural areas where wasps and ticks may be present so coming equipped with an understanding of how to stay safer around these bugs is ideal.

Wasps: For stinging insects such as wasps, the CDC has these safety tips should you encounter them.

Ticks: It’s recommended that event volunteers wear long-sleeved, light-colored shirts and pants that are tucked into socks. Light-colored clothing make ticks easier to spot. Information about ticks can be found on the CDC's website.
